YORKSHIRE Cricket Club has appointed the first female director at one of its academies.
Lynne Hickman, 33, of Richmond, is head of the Middlesbrough Pathways Academy, one of nine regional bases helping to develop the next generation of Yorkshire cricket stars.
Mrs Hickman will coach 26 youngsters in the under-13s age group who have been selected as the most promising juniors in the Teesside and Tees Valley region.
She said: “It’s an honour to be the first woman to be appointed to this level of coaching in Yorkshire.
“As well as fulfilling my new role, I’m also halfway through the assessment to reach the next level in the ECB’s Club Coach scheme.
“There isn’t a female ECB Level 3 coach in Yorkshire, but I’m hoping to become the first and that will enable me to coach the county’s elite players.”
