ACCLAIMED stage actress and Law and Order: UK star Harriet Walter makes a guest appearance in a new Midsomer Murders episode and she should at least already be familiar with its set-up.
That is because, in 2005, she appeared in an episode titled Orchis Fatalis as Margaret Winstanley. Then she was dealing with John Nettles as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, not Neil Dudgeon as John, his equally skilled nephew. A journalist is murdered in a manner similar to a fake killing carried out by local resident Stella Harris in a 1960s horror movie.
That’s bad enough, but when Stella’s more famous sister, Diana, returns after a family rift lasting 40 years, more deaths occur, with each one resembling that of a fictional film-based slaying.
Is life – or should that be death? – imitating art, or is something even more deadly afoot? Sinead Cusack appears as Stella.
