I FOUND Jim Tague’s letter (HAS, Dec 29) interesting, but he forgot to mention that in the UK homelessness, poverty, depression, suicides and the use of food banks have all dramatically increased since 2010.
He made no mention of Britain getting further into debt to bale out other nations, while British children are going hungry.
Nor was there mention of cuts in funding to universities and those wishing to teach literacy within state schools or how higher education has become restricted to the affluent or of the cuts in benefit to give millionaires tax cuts.
In addition, the promised plans and economic growth strategies which have failed to happen also seem to have slipped his mind.
So did the Government’s “sensible energy policy” that will force more people into fuel poverty.
Most of all, there was no mention of how Britain has gone from a nation run by the cast of the Muppet Show to one run by the cast of Fraggle Rock.
