I WAS quite interested in your article about Mesolithic people (Echo, Dec 26).
Archaeologists believe a Stone Age tribe may have set up homes with sea views close to Whitby.
Researchers have unearthed evidence suggesting Mesolithic people either spent months every year at a site in Goldsborough, near Whitby, or regularly returned there for short periods.
However, my doubts were raised when I looked at the accompanying illustration of their dwelling area.
Surely these well-clothed fire makers would not camp without some sort of shelter, which seems to be lacking?
However, my concerns were increased by the illustration showing them in a farmed Yorkshire dales landscape with hedge rows and stone walls over rolling hills.
Surely the artist has got his time line/landscape details mixed up for 5000 BC?
