THE year just gone was a good year for superhero fans and comics enthusiasts with new movies about Batman, Spiderman, the Ghost Rider and Marvel’s Avengers.

For me, the latter was the pick of the bunch.

This year, we can all look forward to more comic strip heroics from Superman, a third Iron Man film and a Thor sequel.

It seems that this genre is very popular. As a young kid in the 1980s, I used to read a lot of the superhero comics, but seeing the crime fighters on the big screen seems to bring the characters to life more.

To be honest, last year’s Ghost Rider film, Spirit of Vengeance, was a disappointment but the Batman and Spiderman flicks were very good.

There are rumours that The Fantastic Four and The Green Lantern characters might get reboots and there is also talk of a Silver Surfer movie (the silver herald of Galactus had a supporting role in the last Fantastic Four flick).

As for Superman, Iron Man and Thor, only time will tell if they are hits or misses.

One thing is for certain: it’s time to buy some popcorn, man.
