WHEN a colleague visited me from Leeds for the day I thought I would show him Darlington town centre.
I wished I hadn’t.
He was totally taken aback with the mess from Grange Road all the way along High Row with virtually every paving stone covered in discarded chewing gum.
As he brought it to my attention, I have to admit the problem is very bad.
It looks appalling and offers a disappointing view to the casual visitor. Has the council just given up removing it?
John Tempest, Darlington.
