THE Walk Of Witness in Bishop Auckland on Good Friday morning, organised by the Bishop Auckland Fellowship Of Christian Churches, was an absolute pleasure to be part of it.

Starting from the Newgate Centre and ending at Auckland Castle, we were lucky to have the leaders of the fellowship and the recently appointed Bishop Of Durham, The Right Reverend Paul Butler to carry out the service of prayers and hymns.

We were also fortunate to have the use of the St Peter’s Chapel within Auckland Castle – the largest and most beautiful private chapel in Europe.

The drama of the crucifixion of Christ was performed by Daisy Arts and the Wash Youth and Arts Group, from Woodhouse Close, in Bishop Auckland, was amazingly done with not a dry eye in the chapel.

As one lady said: “I just let the tears flow.”

What better proof could there be that Christianity in this area is very strong. It was standing room only.
