I FIND the letters written by Redcar’s Stephen Dixon very thought-provoking.
Stephen’s recent letter (HAS, Apr 16) was another example of appealing to politicians’ consciences.
He’s correct about the similarities between David Cameron and Margaret Thatcher. While Mr Cameron will be remembered for the bedroom tax and the proliferation of food banks on his watch, Mrs Thatcher’s decimation of our manufacturing industry, especially the steel and coal industries, is marginally a bigger sin against society, hence the infamous comment “There’s no such thing as society.”
There’s no such thing as the Big Society anymore, as Mr Cameron ditched that soundbite some time ago now.
