I WAS concerned to read (Business Echo, Feb 20) about the difficulties experienced by US company Losonoco in securing £80m to build a bioethanol plant in the Tees Valley.
Last week, at the European meeting of Energy Ministers, the UK Government opposed binding targets for renewable energy.
The consequence of the Government's refusal to set a framework for renewable energies is the sort of investment uncertainty that Losonoco and other companies are experiencing.
Teesside already has a developing biodiesel industry and the Government's failure to insist on a roadmap for green fuel development could cost the region dear. - Fiona Hall, MEP for the North-East, Durham.
