I MADE a submission to the Durham County Council Ten Year Plan about Festival Walk shopping mall, in the centre of the main Spennymoor shopping area, and I was pleased to note that the re-generation of these flat roofed, outdated shops would be given top priority (HAS, May 28).
This shopping area has been in administration for more than five years and it would appear that Durham County Council is not giving the re-generation of Festival Walk the priority indicated in the plan. I have e-mailed the director and head of re-generation at Durham County Council, asking them to inspect this area and I am still awaiting a response.
This shopping area is past its sell-by date and should be demolished and the High Street shops should be re-connected with traditional shops.
Ben Ord, Spennymoor
