LORD Forsyth of Drumlean, an investment bank advisor, defends bankers bonuses with the claim that there will be “50 per cent tax paid” (Echo, Feb 2).
One can only wonder what evidence there is for this claim. I would be fairly sure that an army of tax accountants will have already been employed, thinking up schemes to shelter some or all of the bonuses from the taxman (buying forests is a good scheme – I believe it offers significant advantages tax-wise).
