Hughes hails his backroom staff

JOHN Hughes won't take any credit for Hartlepool United's achievements last month.

Pools sailed through an unbeaten February and he's set to be named manager of the month after the shortlist is first announced.

Last week he insisted he didn't want to talk about any individual achievement and it was the same mantra at yesterday's press conference, when he preferred to put the praise and credit on his backroom staff.

"I've come down from Scotland and come down here alone,'' he said. "I always wanted to manage in England and I'm fortunate to come into a club that is well-run.

"It allows you to get in there and work with a good team of staff. Micky Barron is a good foil for me and Ritchie Humphreys has played a big part, Marty the kitman, Buster the physio, Colly the goalkeeping coach - but it's down to the dressing room.

"I refuse to take any credit and it's all down to them. I set it up for them and it's up to them to carry it out.''
