Walton feels short-changed after defeat
SIMON WALTON admits everyone at Hartlepool United felt short-changed at the weekend.
Pools lost at home to Fleetwood, despite playing well and offering, in the main, a bright and positive performance.
In four games in League Two, Pools have yet to score or win, but the signs of progress are there.
Walton, again impressive in midfield at the weekend, admitted: “How we haven't scored I don't know - -we started like a house on fire.
“It's something that we worked on. We should have scored early on but we didn't and we were punished.
“Previously we've been on the back foot early on, we wanted to turn that around.
“We didn't get the result we warranted.
“I imagine everyone associated with Hartlepool is very frustrated because it's hard to take losing a game like that.
“But we have to take positives from it because there were a lot of them.
“We've got to keep believing and performing like that.’’
And Walton admitted some of the victorious Fleetwood players were surprised to escape with three points.
“Results aren't there at the moment but the performance was there on Saturday,’’ he said. “A couple of their lads even said they didn't know how they'd got away with the points.
“The first half was the best we've played all season.
“It was strange – we were quite upbeat at half-time yet we were 1-0 down.
“But we're here to win points, that's what it's about.
“But I'm sure if we keep playing like that then we'll get a lot more points than we lose.’’
