Sunderland sign Borini and Dossena
SUNDERLAND have completed a deadline-day double by signing Italians Fabio Borini and Andrea Dossena.
Borini, a 22-year-old attacker, has moved from Liverpool on a season-long loan.
Dossena, a 31-year-old left-back, has signed a one-year deal after moving from Napoli for an undisclosed fee.
Borini, who became Sunderland's 12th summer signing earlier this evening, initially moved to England as a teenager when he joined Chelsea's academy from Bologna.
He made eight appearances for the Blues and also played for Swansea on loan, before returning to his homeland to join Parma and Roma.
He made a £10m move to Liverpool in July 2012 and made 20 senior appearances for the Reds.
However, he was unable to hold down a regular place in Liverpool's first-choice line up and moves to Sunderland in an attempt to kick-start his career.
Borini was part of the Italy squad at last summer's European Championships and has one senior cap to his name.
Dossena boasts much more experience than his fellow Italian, and also has links with Liverpool.
The 31-year-old spent four years at Anfield after moving from Udinese in 2008 and has won ten caps for the Italian national team.
He left Liverpool in 2012 and made 83 appearances for Napoli before falling out of favour towards the end of last season.
He was close to joining Torino last month, but had problems with a medical because of a muscular problem.
