Taylor could return against Liverpool

NEWCASTLE UNITED manager Alan Pardew could recall Steven Taylor for this weekend’s visit of Liverpool if captain Fabricio Coloccini is ruled out.
Coloccini is a doubt for Saturday’s game at St James’ Park after withdrawing from the Argentina squad on Monday due to a muscle injury.
The defender is expected back on Tyneside later today, where he will be assessed by the club’s medical staff, but Magpies boss Pardew is already making alternative plans should he receive bad news regarding the problem.
Taylor, who was expected back to training on Monday following a slight knock, hasn’t featured for Newcastle since the opening day defeat to Manchester City in which the defender was sent off for elbowing Sergio Aguero.
His on-field antics, which earned a three-match ban, angered Magpies supporters, but the 27-year-old could be in line for a return against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Mike Williamson has impressed since his return to the starting line-up and it is likely Pardew will chose between Taylor and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to partner him at the back.
Yanga-Mbiwa has been out of sorts recently and was substituted at half time during Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Everton last month.
