Newcastle to appeal Remy red card
NEWCASTLE UNITED have lodged an appeal against Loic Remy's dismissal at Norwich City, despite manager Alan Pardew stating they would not be attempting to get it overturned in the immediate aftermath of the game.
Remy was sent off after pushing Bradley Johnson and thrusting his head towards the Norwich midfielder, who was also dismissed.
After the game, Pardew said: "We won't appeal because I think there was enough for Chris (Foy) there. Once he (Johnson) had done that stupid reaction and the crowd went mad, he (Foy) has no choice really."
The Football Association have indicated that the appeal will be heard before Saturday's game with Sunderland.
If Remy is exonerated, he will be available to play in the Tyne-Wear derby.
