THE Football Association have dismissed Newcastle United's appeal over Loic Remy's three-match ban for his sending off at Norwich City.
An independent regulatory commission discussed Chris Foy's decision to issue Remy with a straight red card for a clash with Bradley Johnson, and upheld the official's verdict of serious foul play.
Remy will therefore miss Saturday's Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland as well as the forthcoming Premier League games with Chelsea and Tottenham.
Johnson's dismissal has been overturned, however, meaning the Norwich midfielder does not face a suspension.
An FA statement said: "An Independent Regulatory Commission heard two claims of wrongful dismissal today both in relation to the Norwich City versus Newcastle United game on Tuesday [28 January 2014].
"The claim involving Norwich’s Bradley Johnson was upheld meaning his three-match suspension is withdrawn.
"The claim involving Newcastle’s Loic Remy was dismissed therefore his three-match suspension remains with immediate effect.
"Both players had been dismissed for violent conduct."
