Sunderland still don't know their FA Cup opponents after Brighton and Hull draw
SUNDERLAND will have to wait to discover the identity of their FA Cup quarter-final opponents after Brighton and Hull City played out a 1-1 draw in their fifth-round tie.
Leonardo Ulloa's first-half strike looked to have secured Brighton a place in the last eight and set up an emotional return to the Amex Stadium for former Seagulls boss Gustavo Poyet.
However, after Hull hit the woodwork twice in the first half, Yannick Sagbo slotted home an equaliser with five minutes left to set up a replay at the KC Stadium next week.
The outcome of that game will determine where Sunderland head to for their quarter-final tie on the weekend of March 8-9.
If Brighton triumph in the replay, Poyet will take on his former employers for the first time since leaving the Amex Stadium in controversial fashion last summer.
The Sunderland boss, who guided Brighton to the Championship play-offs during his four years on the south coast, threatened to take legal action against his former employers before opting to drop the case when he was appointed on Wearside.
If, however, Hull triumph in the return game on Humberside, Sunderland will lock horns with their former manager, Steve Bruce, who has already masterminded two Premier League wins over the Black Cats this season.
