Newcastle boss Pardew banned for seven games after headbutt

The Advertiser Series: BANNED: Alan Pardew BANNED: Alan Pardew

THE Football Association has announced that Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will serve a seven-match suspension with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, after he admitted an FA misconduct charge.

An Independent Regulatory Commission today ruled the first three-matches imposed are a stadium ban with the remaining four a touchline ban.

Pardew has also been fined £60,000 and warned as to his future conduct.

He was involved in an incident with Hull City's David Meyler during the Magpies' 4-1 win at the KC Stadium earlier this month.

Newcastle fined the manager £100,000 on the evening of the Premier League fixture.

Pardew said: "As I have made clear, I deeply regret the incident and again wholeheartedly apologise to all parties for my conduct, which I understand was not acceptable.

"I will accept the punishment handed down by the FA today. My focus now turns to preparing the team for this weekend's game against Fulham and finishing the season as strongly as possible."

How did he bag that ? If a fan had done it he would be jailed. Alright it wasnt a full on head butt, but he is hardly a first time offender.

I think it's about right. It wasn't a 'real' head butt, and a player would have got no more than a sending off and a three match ban. So Pardew received twice this punishment, which reflects his more responsible position. Fair enough.

I agree,& how will we know if he actually pays the £100,000 cub fine wouldnt it be better if we actually saw him handing over a cheque to a charity such as the Bobby Robson cancer fund, who incidentally would be disgusted by Pardews touchline antics, the man was a true gentleman on & off th pitch.
