HIGHLY-RATED striker Luke James scooped the main awards at Hartlepool United’s annual awards night last night.

James hit the double off the pitch by landing the players’ player of the year and the supporters’ player of the year award.

At the club’s annual end of season awards at the Staincliffe Hotel in Seaton Carew, James was rewarded for his 16-goal campaign.

The teenager will miss Saturday’s final game of the season with an ankle injury suffered in the defeat at Burton Albion 11 days ago.

It has been a youthful team sent out by manager Colon Cooper in League Two and teenage prospect Bradley Walker picked up the young player of the year gong.

The away day player of the year, voted by the fans, was right-back Michael Duckworth.

Striker James Poole was named community player of the year.

And the team’s goal of the season award went to Walker’s stunner at Southend when he volleyed from the edge of the area.

Pools have again reduced admission prices, with admission for their final game of the season pegged back to £5.

After an increased crowd helped Pools to victory over Morecambe on Easter Monday to secure survival, the club has again knocked admission prices back.

All tickets for the Exeter game will cost just £5 in all areas of the ground, bought either from the ticket office in advance or on the turnstiles on the day of the game.

“The reaction we got to the Pack The Park offer for the Morecambe game was brilliant,” explained Chief Executive Russ Green.

But to be honest, the support we’ve had all year has been different class both at Victoria Park and away from home – particularly with all the Thunderbirds at Plymouth Argyle last week!

“It’s because of that we want to do something to say thank you so our supporters for that backing throughout the campaign and hopefully we can get another good crowd at The Vic on Saturday.’’
