NEWCASTLE UNITED’S opening day fixture of the new Premier League season against Manchester City has been put back 24 hours as part of the first chunk of games rescheduled for television.
The Magpies will now face the champions on Sunday, August 17 at 4pm, while their second game at Aston Villa has been brought forward to a 12.45 start on August 23 for BT Sport.
A further three Newcastle matches have also been changed. The trip to Stoke City will be played on Monday, September 29 at 8pm for Sky Sports and Liverpool’s visit to St James’ Park will be on BT at 12.45 on the original November 1 date.
The fifth change will see Newcastle now travel to West Brom on Sunday, November 9 for a 1.30pm kick-off.
Sunderland have also had three changes affected by the rescheduling. The Black Cats’ first home game will now see Manchester United visit the Stadium of Light on Sunday, 24 August, at 4pm.
Gustavo Poyet’s side will then feature in two live games in November, with the trip to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park moving to an 8pm kick-off on Monday, November 3. Sunderland end that month with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea making the journey to Wearside, with the game moving to the later time of 5.30pm on Saturday, November 29.
