LATE night emails and confirmation tweets are fast becoming the norm this transfer window and last night was no different. This time Middlesbrough thought they would get in on the act.

It was no secret that Spanish striker Kike was joining Boro after Real Murcia broke the news of the deal that had been agreed with the Teessiders last week.

And in the sun-kissed land of Marbella it became official last night when the 24-year-old signed a three-year deal. At the same it emerged that Lukas Jutkiewicz had finalised his £2m switch to Burnley.

Jutkiewicz will be the first to admit that he did not have the best of times at the Riverside with injuries and form. Yet Middlesbrough are set to make a sizeable profit on the man who cost £1.3m if he delivers at Turf Moor.

Now all eyes will be on how Karanka reinvests that money in to his squad. Adam Clayton, the Huddersfield man, is a primary target, but talks are at an advanced staged over a new right-back. After being rejected by Juanfran, this time Middlesbrough are trying to keep it quiet.

Sunderland

Where now for the Black Cats? At this stage the discussions with Fiorentina continue aimed at striking a deal for Spaniard Marcos Alonso, who impressed on loan last season.

It has also emerged that Sunderland have been offered another South Korean. This time, after Ki Sung-Yueng and Ji Dong-Won started last season at the Stadium of Light, it is Arsenal’s Park Chu-Young being mooted.

Sunderland are looking for cheap and realistic options - as well as more expensive buys - and the 29-year-old does tick both of those boxes, although his appearances since moving to the Emirates from Monaco a few years ago almost all arrived wearing the colours of Watford and Celta Vigo.

Will Park end up at Sunderland? Only if he is followed by a more expensive alternative as Gustavo Poyet tries to find the extra attacking power he felt his side lacked last season.

AND then there was Newcastle. After the exciting capture of Remy Cabella from Montpellier, which by the way was apparently for just £7m according to sources close to St James’ Park, there should be another today.

This time it will be right-back Daryl Janmaat. He was due on Tyneside yesterday for a medical but delayed his arrival by 24 hours because of illness, according to reports.

It will be hoped that is true, otherwise they will fear a Loic Remy moment again ... remember when the Frenchman diverted to sign for QPR when Newcastle expected him up in the North-East. Janmaat is thought to have agreed terms and will replace Mathieu Debuchy in the Newcastle squad.
