DARYL Janmaat will make his first appearance in a Newcastle United shirt at Huddersfield Town tonight.

The Holland right-back will start on the right of a defence which looks very familiar, although Massadio Haidara has another chance to stake a claim for the left-back slot in the continued absence of Davide Santon.

It is the best team Alan Pardew has named through pre-season suggesting that it could be somehwere near to his starting line-up for the Premier League opener with Manchester City on August 17.

There is also a starting spot from Argentine forward Facundo Ferreyra behind Emmanuel Riviere, with Pardew looking to see the pair link up together well before the season starts for real.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, do not include Middlesbrough target Adam Clayton in the middle of midfield tonight.

Boro are closing in on a £1.5m deal for Clayton, but Terriers insist here tonight that he is merely missing with a kick to the calf. He sustained the problem at Oldham on Saturday and reported for tonight's friendly at 4pm with the rest of the Huddersfield squad.

Middlesbrough are still hopeful of completing the move for Clayton.
