COLIN Cooper is to sign midfielder Tommy Miller - while not ruling out adding more to his squad before Saturday's opening game.
Pools go to Stevenage at the weekend, and Miller will make a return to the club he left for Ipswich in 2001 for a fee of £750,000.

He has been on trial at Victoria Park over the last month and impressed sufficently to earn a deal.

There could also be a contract offer to attacker Michael Woods. The one-time Leeds and Chelsea prospect has long been on Cooper's radar and has been training with Pools over the summer.

Cooper, who won't announce who will captain his side until the weekend with Matthew Bates, Neil Austin and Miller high in his thinking, is also talking to Sunderland and Middlesbrough about landing players on loan.

Cooper said this morning: “We are in good shape. I am still working to get players in, signings and the like. Everyone in management is the same.
“Over the next few weeks, I’ve spoke about other clubs having their priorities and things happening on the back of that for us. It;’s not materialised just yet for the parent clubs, so we are patient.
“I’m happy with how we are.

“Tommy has been here, and we have been working on that deal. I’m pleased with it.''
