UNDER-FIRE Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew will face the written media for the first time since Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Southampton on Thursday.

The Magpies boss failed to turn up for his post-match press conference at St Mary’s, but did give interviews to rights holders BBC and Sky.

Pardew’s absence in the press room fuelled rumours his four-year tenure at St James’ Park was about to come to an end, but the club have since moved to quash those insisting it is “business as usual” ahead of Saturday’s game with Hull City.

It remained to be seen whether Pardew would conduct his usual pre-match press conference, but the club confirmed yesterday that the 53-year-old will break his silence to the written media on Thursday lunchtime.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was in the stands at St Mary’s alongside managing director Lee Charnley as almost 2,500 fans voiced their discontent towards the board and management.

Chants of “we want Pardew out” and “Alan Pardew – it’s never your fault” were heard on the south coast, while banners with similar messages were unfurled.

The Tynesiders are without a Premier League win this season and sit bottom of the table after four games. It is their worst start to a season in nine years.

Pardew faces a difficult reception when Hull City visit St James’ Park on Saturday with fans expected to voice their anger once again.

The group behind the website sackpardew.com are understood to be planning a protest during the game involving several more banners and leaflets.

Pardew has been dealt a further blow with news that teenage winger Rolando Aarons could be out until November with a hamstring injury.

Aarons returned from international duty with England Under-20s suffering from the problem and scans have shown that the damage is worse that first feared.

Pardew had hoped to have the Jamaican-born starlet back for Saturday, but he now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.

Aarons has been a lone bright star for Newcastle this season and has impressed with a number of cameos including scoring against Crystal Palace.

It is understood Pardew was hoping to give the young player a run in the team, but that will have to wait until November.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has joined Hartlepool United on loan.

Striker Adam Campbell returned from his loan spell at Fleetwood Town earlier this month and requires surgery on a hernia problem.
