ALBERT ADOMAH has highlighted the pace of Middlesbrough’s attacking players as a key factor in the club’s recent run of success.

Boro’s counter-attacking capabilities were at the fore as they beat Brighton on Saturday, a result that took them up to third place in the Championship table.

Adam Reach sprinted clear of his marker to set up Lee Tomlin’s opening goal at the Amex Stadium, before Adomah’s turn of pace enabled him to steal into the area to convert Daniel Ayala’s cross at the second attempt at the start of the second half.

With Kike and Patrick Bamford also boasting decent acceleration in the attacking positions, Boro are capable of quickly turning defence into attack, an attribute that has helped them claim four away wins already this season.

“We’ve got real pace in the team,” said Adomah. “We’ve got fast players like Reachy who are young, quick and willing to run and run for the team.

“All of our strikers are quite sharp, and that really helps, especially when you might not have a lot of possession and are having to play on the break a bit. It definitely helps.”

Saturday’s win kept Boro within a point of league leaders Watford, and Adomah is feeling optimistic ahead of a testing six days that will see the Teessiders travel to Wolves on Tuesday before hosting Watford at the weekend.

“We’re very excited and we have to stay positive,” he said. “We’re right there in the play-off zone and our main thing is to be consistent, winning games and drawing games. That’s the main aim.”
