HARTLEPOOL UNITED caretaker boss Sam Collins has made his first signing - the loan capture of Matt Crooks from Huddersfield Town.

The 20-year-old can play across the midfield and is likelty to be involved tonight when Pools go to Accrington Stanley.

Collins said at the weekend following the defeat by Luton that he was considering strengthening his squad:

“The squad is unbalanced, I would agree with that. If I was asked to do it (make signings) and thought I wanted to then I would want to address it.

“If it is not me, but someone else, then they would need to do that anyway.

“We are two or three players away from having a really good group.”

Crooks started the season in the Terriers side, and started his career at Manchester United.
