DICK ADVOCAAT claims he has a “good feeling” about the final week of the season, despite Sunderland still needing another point to guarantee their Premier League survival.

Yesterday’s goalless draw with Leicester City has left the Black Cats three points clear of 18th-placed Hull City, but the Tigers’ superior goal difference means they could still be overhauled on the final day if they lose their remaining two matches.

Those games could hardly be more difficult with Sunderland heading to Arsenal on Wednesday before travelling to champions Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

However, having watched his side battle to earn what could prove an important point against Leicester, Advocaat will head into the seasonal finale in a confident mood.

The Dutchman said: “We will know next week if this is a good point. But I cannot complain about my team because they worked very hard.

“If you asked me last week if we would have four points from two games, we would be very happy.

“Why can’t we get a result at Arsenal? We will go there and try and do the same as Swansea did. If you are organised, you will always get chances.

“We still have everything in our own hands and I have a good feeling.”

Sunderland were the better side for most of yesterday’s game against a Leicester side who guaranteed their own survival by claiming their 38th point of the campaign.

However, while Kasper Schmeichel made important saves from Seb Larsson, Danny Graham and Adam Johnson, the Black Cats were never really able to create the kind of opportunity that might have enabled them to make a breakthrough.

Advocaat said: “It was a very exciting match for both teams, with a lot of nerves, but both teams work so hard. We had more opportunities, but I think 0-0 is a good result.

“Leicester are a very difficult team to beat. They’ve lost one game in eight, we’d lost one in six. We were organised, but we needed more.”
