MIDDLESBROUGH'S Under-21s are heading for Germany this summer to take part in a pre-season tournament - and fans are being urged to join Red Faction in making the trip to support Boro.

The tournament is taking place in Niederrheinstadion in Oberhausen; a town twinned with Middlesbrough, and is being held to celebrate the 120-year anniversary of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

Organised by the club and their fan-scene, the tournament will be a two-day league taking place on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 and the hosts and Boro will be joined by Wuppertaler SV, SSV Ulm 1846 and GKS Tychy.

Boro supporter group Red Faction are making the trip and say: "This will be a great opportunity for fans to experience the German footballing culture, to build on Boro’s friendship with RWO and to enjoy a weekend away in Germany so we would love to see as many Boro supporters make the trip as possible!"

Logistically, the trip isn't difficult. Oberhausen can be reached via a short train or taxi journey from Düsseldorf airport.

Fans interested should get in touch with Red Faction on social media or email redfactionboro@outlook.com.

The season is not yet finished for Boro's Under-21s, who head for Reading this weekend in their round of 16 PL2 play-off tie.

After an 11th placed finish in the revamped PL2 table, Boro are away at the Royals in the knock-out tie. The game takes place at noon on Saturday at the The Select Car Leasing Stadium.
