Cooper calls for same again from Pools
HIS side might have thrown away two points at Bournemouth on Saturday, but Hartlepool United manager Neale Cooper wants more of the same from his players when they face Preston tonight.
Pools looked to be heading for their first away win of the season at the weekend, but Matt Tubbs' 93rd minute goal meant Cooper's side returned to the North-East with one point instead of three after Simon Walton had given them the lead from the spot.
It might have felt like a defeat in the immediate aftermath of the game on Saturday, but Cooper admitted he was delighted with his side's overall performance and hopes they can produce a similar display when they travel to Deepdale in League One.
"I hope we'll put in a similar performance," Cooper said. "We won't play like we play at home. We'll look at who is available."
When Hartlepool visited Deepdale last season they should have come away with three points after dominating the game, but poor finishing meant they ended up leaving with nothing.
Cooper hopes that won't be the case again and admits there have already been games this season when his side have lacked that cutting edge in the final third.
He said: "We're looking forward to going there. We dominated the game there last year but didn't take our chances and we lost.
"You've got to take your chances to win games. Last week at Carlisle we didn't do that but we have to do that at Preston and hope we catch them on the break.
"It was such a frustrating night, but it was one of our best performances on the break attacking, but it was to no avail. It was probably our best performance under me away from home so hopefully we can do the same except come away with three points this time."
