DIVISION TWO

LAST Sunday saw a number of surprising results especially in Division Two with the three top sides all losing but pride of place must go to Norton Unicorn who recorded their first victory of the season after 22 defeats against Rimswell.  Ian Peckett gave them a first half lead with a headed goal and three goals in the second half from Gary Lee Smith, Daniel Murphy and Jamie Smith with Daniel Seaman scoring a late consolation goal for Rimswell.  Leaders Fairfield Sports & Social Club suffered a 6-2 defeat away to Billingham whose goals came from Andrew Cooper and Jack Bradburn with two each and Adam Wilson and Jaimie Morton, for Fairfield scorers were Hayden Moody and Daniel Horsley.  Second placed Eaglescliffe also slipped up going down 4-1 away to Blytheholme, two goals from substitute John Highfield and one each for Daniel McLay and Aiden Cannon, Thomas Upton scored for Eaglescliffe.  Norton Red Lion moved up to third with a 6-0 win against Eaglescliffe Bazookas, two goals for Aiden Cattermole and one each from Christian Selby, Ross Burdon, Jamie Baron and Lewis Powell.  St Marys College dropped down to fourth following their 3-1 defeat away at Thornaby Roundel whose goals came from Jacob Beattie, Jordan Boyes and Ryan Saunders Thornaby Roundel completed the scoring with an own goal for St Marys.  The final fixture was a local derby between Thornaby Sports & Leisure and Thornaby Aerodrome Club and it was the visitors who secured the points in a close fought game winning by the odd goal in three, Thornaby Sports & Leisure scorer was Daniel Bennett and for Thornaby Aerodrome Club Carl Robinson and Jason Kelly scored.

Division One

In Division One the leaders Grangefield Park slipped up going down 2-1 at home to Billingham Cowpen Club their goal coming from James Hall, Ricki Bloomfield and Steven Dent scored for Cowpen.  Second placed Stockton Red Lion closed the gap with an 8-3 win at home to Billingham The Merlin with four goals from Martin Small plus one each for Jack Bromley, John Allison, Neil Davis and Steven Vickers.  Stockton Hardwick slipped up as they were held to a draw by Storytellers United who equalised in the closing minutes for 2-2, David Higgins got both goals for Stockton Hardwick and for Storytellers United Christopher Whalley and Carl Evans were the scorers.  Layfield Arms ran riot against Roseworth Social scoring eleven times through Arron Brookbanks with five, two goals for Sami Fallah and William Cowley plus one each for Ben Manuel and Richard Robinson, Daniel Hardwick scored a consolation for Roseworth Social.  Billingham The Kings and Village Park Rangers shared the points in a one all draw, David Wilkinson scored for Village Park Rangers and an own goal was Billingham The Kings reply.  Lee Mahon was another player to score five goals this time for North Ormesby Cons as they won 5-2 against Hartburn whose goals came from David Charles and Carl Thompson.

Premier Division

In the Premier Division Portrack consolidated themselves in second place with a 2-0 victory against George & Dragon (Yarm) with goals from Andrew Smith and Max Craggs to leave them five points in front of Norton George & Dragon who have a game in hand.  Norton George & Dragon had a 4-2 win away to The Royal as they warmed up for their County Cup semi-final this week-end.  Paul Cleary scored both goals for The Royal, Joel Callender scored twice for Norton George & Dragon plus one apiece for Nathan Mohun and Andrew Bennett.  Norton WMC entertained Thornaby Village at Tilery and it was the visitors who eventually earned a hard fought 4-2 victory with two goals from substitute Charlie Raby and one each for Glenn Corkain and Stephen Preston, Matthew Nertney and Norman Fowler were the scorers for Norton WMC.  Stockton West End and Thornaby Meerkats shared eleven goals but it was Thornaby Meerkats who edged this match by the odd goal, scorers for Stockton West End were Stephen Brown with a hat-trick and two goals for Niall White.  Thornaby Meerkats goals came from Bradley Murray (2), substitute Marc Todd (2), Harrison Davies and Gary Bowe.
