Bishop Auckland League

Bishop Auckland Snooker Club moved into second place in the table after they only dropped three points at Crook Queen’s, who had singles points from Tony Hepper and Jason Baird. The visitors had two singles points each from Paul Armstrong and Michael Hoggart with Phil Cox, Chris Patton, Michael Farlowe and Steve Balanaves adding one each. George Clark joined Baird to add the doubles for the Queen’s, but Phil Cox completed the visiting victory when he beat Pat Rouse in both captains’ games.

Coundon Miners A 18 points clear at the top after only dropping two points to their B team. Kenny Tait and Bradley Ashton won points for the B team, but the league leaders had two points each from Gav Robinson, Craig Coulson and Gareth Duff and one each from Brian Robinson and Mally Ryder before they added the doubles and two captains’ games.

Local bragging rights were at stake when Bar None went next door to the Bay Horse and took the first three games with wins from Gordon Wilson, Daniel Crowther and Iain Weston. The Horse levelled with a point each from Laurence McGuinness, Anthony Shaw and Andrew Dixon, but the visitors took the remaining games with two from Mick McPherson and second points from Wilson and Crowther, before adding the doubles and two captains’ games.

Wolsingham Black Lion looked to continue their recent good run of form against the visiting St Johns Chapel Blue Bell. Ant Stephenson took the opening frame for the visitors before Chris Pyebourn and James Everitt replied. Mark Peart, Chris Lee and Tyrone Robson pushed the Blue Bell two points clear. The visitors went on to win two of the three doubles points for a three point victory.
