Young Quid Phet showed he is improving steadily among the older, more experienced players when he produced a comprehensive three point win over Steve Place, who was playing at home at Redcar Conservative Club.

Andrew Cuthbertson moved up to second place in the table after he beat the visiting Stuart Green at Harrowgate Club. The first frame ended with a re-spotted black. Andrew won the toss and put Stuart in first. He put the black and white on opposite side cushions but Andrew successfully attempted the cocked hat shot and potted the black in the middle pocket.

Stuart was not fazed by this set back and won the second frame with a 30 break. Andrew won the next two frames but Stuart fought back again with a 40 break in the fifth to pull the score back to 2-3. Andrew won the sixth frame but was 24 points behind with 25 points left in the final frame. Andrew, while clearing the remaining colours, with black close to the top cushion and pink in baulk, played a deep screw shot to obtain perfect position on the black. Even though the score was 5-2 this didn’t reflect the true course of the match as Andrew felt had more than his fair share of runs of the ball.
