MATCH REPORT Sunday 22 March 2015

Division One

Grangefield Park were crowned Division One champions last weekend without playing as their nearest rivals Stockton Red Lion who required three wins from their final three games fell short when third placed Stockton Hardwick held them to a 1-1 draw at Tilery.  Stockton Red Lion opened the scoring in the first half through Danny Brown but Hardwick replied in the second half through substitute Gavin Richards.  Hartburn entertained Billingham Cowpen Club but went down by the odd goal in five, scorers for Hartburn were Carl Thompson and Jamie Roberts, whilst Zak Wray, Steven Dent and Craig Brown scored for Cowpen.  Roseworth Social continued their improved form with a 4-0 win away to Billingham The Kings with two goals from Anthony Shaw and one each for Jason Pearson and Nathan Pitt.

Goals Ian Gorman Memorial Trophy Round Three

Hardwick Social Club reached the semi-final of the Goals Ian Gorman Memorial Trophy with a hard fought 4-2 extra time win against Billingham Cons..  It looked at one stage as if they might be going out after a goal apiece in the first half then saw Billingham Cons win a penalty with five minutes remaining but Hardwick hit straight back with a last minute equaliser to take the tie to extra time.  Two goals in extra time saw Hardwick Social Club through to the semi-finals.  Sonni Coleman scored two plus one each from Tom Coulthard and Christopher Stockton, for Billingham Cons Lee Johnson and Steven Pickard were the scorers.

Premier Division

In the Premier Division Portrack consolidated second place with a resounding 11-0 win against South Bank whilst Norton George & Dragon went down 4-3 to Thornaby Meerkats.  There was four goals each for Ian Thompson and Martin Woodhouse plus a goal each from Max Craggs and substitutes Joshua Haley and Josh Rowbotham for Portrack.  Thornaby Meerkats goals were scored by Marc Todd and Peter Barnes plus two from substitute Martin Kilburn; Nathan Mohun scored all the Norton goals.  George & Dragon (Yarm) enjoyed a 3-0 home win against Thornaby Village with two goals from Dominic Halliday and one for Bryan Stewart.

Division Two

In Division Two there was mixed results for the joint leaders as Fairfield Sports & Social Club suffered a 5-3 defeat against potential champions Norton Red Lion whilst Eaglescliffe were held by St Marys College where they shared six goals.  Fairfield Sports & Social Club goals from Michael Ball (2) and Luke Spence and for Norton Red Lion Christian Selby scored a hat-trick plus goals from Ricki Dull and Ross Burdon.  For Eaglescliffe Robert McIiroy scored twice and Michael Edon and for St Marys Ryan MacKey scored two plus one for Jamie Atkinson. Thornaby Roundel and The Oxbridge shared the points in a 3-3 draw, goals for Thornaby Roundel came from Jake Jobson, Josh Dickens and Lewis Riley meanwhile Thornaby Aerodrome Club enjoyed a 3-1 home win against Rimswell with goals from Carl Robinson, Daniel Pearce and Jason McNamee, Daniel Smith replied for Rimswell.
