The Cup Final was played over the best of 13 frames between Andrew Cuthbertson and Terry Singleton over two legs and turned out to be a battle of two sections.

Cuthbertson got away to a flying start in the first encounter of six frames at his home venue, Harrogate Club, Darlington when he took the first three frames. In the those frames his attention to tight safety and steady scoring gave him all three with wins of 63-45; 66-24 and 56-7, in which he knocked in a decisive 38 break.

However Singleton recovered from the early onslaught and tightened his game to equalise with frame wins of 73-9, 63-30 and 59-31, in which he made a 31 break.

The second leg transferred to Singleton’s home venue, Samuelson’s Club in Middlesbrough with a possible seven frames on the menu. However only four frames were needed as Singleton was in superb form and took the first four frames with wins of 64-27; 51-35; 89 (with a 56 break)- 13 and then finished in real style with a 71 break, which gave him the frame at 78-7 and the trophy with a seven frames to three victory.
