TV PRESENTER Matt Baker helped launch a book on the history of the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue team at the weekend.
Matt, who appears on Countryfile and is a former Blue Peter presenter, wrote the foreword to the book – 40 Years and Counting.
On Saturday, Matt, whose parents run a farm near Tow Law, signed copies of the book in the Durham store of Cotswold Outdoors.
Matt said: “All the members of the team are volunteers and they do a really excellent job. The book is a history of the team so far and has some interesting stories of rescues that they have done.”
While working on Blue Peter, a pup from Matt’s dog, Meg, joined the Rescue Dogs (Sarda) of Scotland, and the progress of the new recruit was followed by viewers of the programme.
All money raised from the sales of the book will go towards the purchase of a second Land Rover for the team. The book is available in store or online from Cotswold Outdoor, and from the team website www.twsmrt.org.uk.
