Nursery earns praise from inspectors in first Ofsted report

A WEAR VALLEY nursery which only opened last year has received a good grade in its first Ofsted inspection.

Coundon and Leeholme Early Years Centre, near Bishop Auckland, opened its doors last September as part of the village's Sure Start programme.

Inspector Karen Tervit praised the quality of care and surroundings at the nursery during her visit last month.

She said staff had fostered a caring relationship with children.

Her report said: "Babies relish being outdoors with older children as they access the wide range of exiting and interesting outdoor equipment.

"Children's art work and photographs are beautifully displayed, giving them a sense of belonging. They are very settled and extremely happy.

"They benefit greatly from a very warm and affectionate relationship with the staff, which gives them the security to approach them with confidence and enthusiasm."

Anne-Marie Pemberton, nursery manager, said staff are passionate about meeting the needs of working parents and provide a pick-up and drop-off service. She said: "Children who attend the nursery can look forward to taking part in a number of stimulating activities, including beautiful outdoor facilities. Our staff are delighted with the progress of the nursery and have received excellent feedback."
